Just Red

10" X 8" oil on board

A few of my blogger friends recently took a workshop with Nancy Franke, an artist I have long admired.  Her quiet palette and color have always appealed to me.  Here I intentionally grayed down the color to let the beautiful red of the alstroemeria be the star.  I am happy with the results.  :)

  2. I feel like I can breathe in the oxygen these give off -- I don't know if they have a scent! You outdid yourself on this, madam.

  3. Just beautiful Dana! Looks like you could've been standing right there with us painting that! It was a great workshop, but you have the talent and skills to do this anyway and I love this as much as I love all of your paintings!

  7. And happy you should be. This is lovely! I love the "grayed down" term. Maybe I should give it a try. Sometimes I look at a finished painting and wonder if I had just been given a new box of crayolas!

  19. Beautiful as always Dana. I am just awed by your technical skill with painting clear glass and water and shadows and reflections.
