Carol Marine Workshop-day 1 & 2

Waking up to unexpected snow in Sedona just added to the excitement of the first day in Carol Marine's workshop.  This Californian was quite delighted with the winter scene.  Note to self though, windshield wiper fluid does nothing to help get the ice off the windshield, it only makes it soapy ice.

Carol Marine, 6x6

The first day Carol painted apples and these are photos of the set up and painting that Carol did for us on the second.  Carol is everything and more that I've heard or read about her...sweet, funny, generous, and the most fun to watch paint.  Her subtle color shifts on the finished paintings are incredible to see in person.  Her use of "gray" makes everything else sing.
These past two days we have been kept busy with painting exercises, still life set ups, color mixing, composition, etc.  But today, to quote Carol, she is going to "kick our butt".  Can't wait!

p.s. This has been our view since the snow.  Thanks for all the great photos Dori!!

  4. Ah, yes, the infamous 'soapy ice'. You haven't lived until you've experienced it...

It sounds like you're mixing fun, learning and relaxation quite nicely. I hope you're able to sit down after today. :-)

    Have fun.

  6. Haha Dana, welcome to my life for roughly a third of the year. Snow and more snow from Dec. to at least Mar.

Carol's paintings are outstanding,(I own one), and I know you'll have a few aha moments during the workshop that will add to your art even though it's as great as it is.
