8" X 8" oil on board

Some little girl is missing her shoes.  I found these while I was on a walk just sitting on a wall with no child or parent in sight.  As cute as they were I had to have a photo, but left them there in the event they are missed.  Happy 4th everyone!

  2. Oh, they're probably my daughter's! She liked to look at her shoes more than wear them! Seriously, she's 25 now, so probably not! Love these, though.

  7. these reminded me of my girls' childhoods. they wore shoes just like these...they are very British nursery looking.

  8. I had a boy, I don't relate particularly to little girls clothing, but I just love this painting! The loose capture of these sweet little shoes and the soft violet shadow against the claret colored background is so appealing. Just beautiful.

  17. Sweet! What a perfect summer painting. My daughter had shoes like these a few years ago. She hated them. It took too much trouble to buckle and un-buckle as far as she was concerned. They sure were cute on her, though...

Hope you had a good Independence Day.

  18. Awww...now this is one heartwarming painting, Dana. Interesting how something as mundane as shoes can touch the heart. You are a true artist when you have the ability to do that with your pieces. ('Course, not that that was ever in doubt, but hopefully you know what I mean...) I wonder if mom/dad came back for the shoes? I love these!

  19. This has to make you smile. Unless you are the mom of the little girl who lost them.
Just love the way you painted this. So much feeling.

  20. What a fabulous painting Dana...and that the scene was stumbled upon and not contrived in the studio makes it all the more sweet. How fortunate for you!
